Nobody handed me a playbook. So I wrote one.
This isn't a course from somebody who read about service businesses. I run one. Every mistake below cost me real money, and every fix is still working today.
-
$12 / hr
Raking leaves on a landscaping crew
That was the paycheck. I did the work, watched how the owner ran things, and started saving whatever I could.
-
$700
Started a detailing business with my brother
Bought the basics, printed nothing, and went and found cars to clean. No investors, no loan, no plan past the next job.
-
The hits
Burned by an agency. Betrayed by a worker.
I paid a marketing agency that didn't deliver. Then someone I trusted on the crew went behind my back. Three years in, I almost called it.
-
The turn
Started posting the work myself
Phone in hand, on real jobs, no production. That's what finally made the phone ring.
-
Today
Six workers, two trucks, two trailers — and a 2025 Raptor in the driveway
$35–45k a month in a market as competitive as Savannah, with accounts like Chipotle and Chick-fil-A on the route. I don't work in the actual detailing anymore. I built the systems so the business runs, and now I help other service businesses do the same.
None of it was luck. It was a sequence of decisions, and I can walk you through every one.
